lets redefine our values

politics and politicians do not have to carry the stigma of a definition with a negative stereotype. but it is the dictate of third world economies that governments carry a subculture of greed and self preservation.

this subculture creates a rippling effect on all subalterns of politicians and government workers who cannot deviate and preserve their moral fortitude to do what is right and what is true.

take the civil service oath as a classic example of wanton disregard. the whole republic every monday pronounces in unison with right hands held upright to symbolize the promise of obeying the tenets or the fundamental convictions of a civil servant. this is an exercise in futility where after reciting such phrases like "papasok ako ng maaga at lampas sa takdang oras kung kinakailangan" (only if there is over time pay); "magsasalita ako laban sa katiwalian" (ow c'mon, only in chismis circles); "hindi ko gagamitin ang aking katungkulan para sa sarili kong kapakanan" (then why is the ombudsman awashed with a deluge of complaints on charges of graft and corruption?) do we need to continue?

the pathetic state of indifference towards real service to the community and the people who need it most has created a similar condition of selfish disregard of duties sworn to by those in government.

even the young minds "visionaries" who join philippine politics as sangguniang kabataan have their own share of this subculture when they are exposed to corrupt practices in the communities they serve. how do we expect to be led by them in the future?

it has become most imperative now that we, the filipino people who still value all that is good and right, talk about doing what is essentially and basically correct. let us create examples in our communities, in our workplace, in our homes and in everywhere we can serve to create the witnessing of goodness. after all we are all basically good until . . . bad things happened along the way. simulan natin, simulan nating lahat ang muling pagbabago. let's forget about EDSA and just act out what the real essence of that spirit of EDSA was all about.

they will just bring us into a future of corruption.a future manipulated by corrupt and greedy.right sk chairman april delos reyes?

an sk chairman is the one who leads the young and decides what best for the youth.why do you allow your father to decide for you and for the projects for the youth?does that mean your father is the sangguniang katigulangan chairman?hehehe!

why we can't see any flagship project or visible project of the sk?does this mean are they already manipulated by the corrupt minds?only you can answer!paging to whom it may concern!hehehe!

  6. As Filipinos, we love to put destiny in our hands. That is why some sincere and strong-willed leaders would often be criticized. Why is progress slow? It is time to reexamine how we choose our leaders.

Sometimes it is also are affiliation with the past that has been pulling us down - "maboto ko ni sa iya kay kandidato ni sya nakon halin sg una, dako ni ang kabalaslan ni tatay sa iya...maboto ko ni sa iya kay sya nakapaobra sa akon..."

    What is Silay's story?

Silay since 1967 was governed by 1 single family (briefly interrupted when Titus Jalandoni and Ramon Jison became mayors during the Post-EDSA years). Continuity is good, it gave projects sustainability. But a leader so entrenched might create an idea that nobody else would be better but him - that in the case of Bigot Velez, when he asked his cousin Carlo Gamban to run when his term expires "in order to continue the dynasty". But who wants to share power? who wants to let go of power when it is absolutely yours? That is when they quarreled.

Silaynons should realized this! Bigot and Carlo's electoral battle might not have been rooted in sincere public service but of a pissing contest over broken prides and unfulfilled compromises.

What are the good sides and the bad sides of their administrations? Silaynons should deeply discern on them. Discernment that should come from the heart NOT from political loyalties and affiliations.

What is Oti's story? He had his first three years. How did the actions of the past affect his administration? What kind of Silay did he inherit? What kind of leader is he? - he had his share of issues. Silaynons should also dig deeper.

This election is crucial. Silay should look into its history in order to really bring effective and positive change. Go Silay!...choose wisely.
